Privacy Policy

Effective August 22, 2026

Versed is made by Charm Technologies LLC (“Versed”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the Versed iPhone app and this website handle, where it lives, and the choices you have. The short version: your verses, notes, and progress stay on your device and in your own iCloud account. We do not run accounts, we do not sell data, and we cannot read your library.

1. What stays on your device

Everything you create in Versed — saved verses, packs, notes, review history, streaks, settings, and your profile name or photo — is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple’s SwiftData framework. If iCloud is signed in on your device, this data is also synced to your privateiCloud database (CloudKit) so it follows you across your devices. That database belongs to your Apple ID; Apple’s infrastructure stores it and we have no access to it.

2. What reaches third parties, and why

Versed uses a small number of service providers. Each receives only what it needs.

ProviderPurposeWhat it receives
Apple (App Store, StoreKit, iCloud)Purchases, subscriptions, syncYour purchase is handled entirely by Apple. Sync data goes to your private iCloud.
RevenueCatSubscription entitlement managementAn anonymous app-install identifier, your purchase history for Versed, and a few non-identifying attributes you may set (for example, translations you requested or how you heard about Versed). Never your name or email.
PostHogProduct analyticsAnonymous usage events such as “onboarding completed”, “review session completed”, and “quiz completed”, keyed to the same anonymous identifier. Events carry counts and structural facts only — never verse text, notes, names, or email addresses.
SentryCrash and error reportingCrash logs and diagnostic information (device model, OS version, app version, stack traces) when the app fails. No verse content.
YouVersion PlatformLicensed Bible text (NIV, NASB, AMP)The book, chapter, and translation you request, so the text can be fetched. No personal information.
bible.helloao.orgPublic-domain Bible text (KJV, WEB, BSB)The book, chapter, and translation you request. No personal information.

Analytics and crash reporting are disabled in development builds and never include content you write. We do not use advertising SDKs, and Versed does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites (the app’s App Tracking Transparency status is “does not track”).

3. Notifications

Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. They never leave your phone, and you can turn them off in Versed or in iOS Settings at any time.

4. Purchases

Versed Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold through the App Store. Apple processes payment; we never see your card details. Manage or cancel in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.

5. This website

This site is static. It sets no cookies of its own and runs no advertising. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security and reliability, typically for a short period. If we add privacy-respecting page analytics in the future we will note it here.

6. Children

Versed is suitable for all ages but is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because Versed has no accounts, the only personal data involved is what stays on the device and in the family’s own iCloud.

7. Your choices and rights

  • Delete everything: delete the app to remove local data; remove the iCloud copy in Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage → Versed.
  • Stop sync: turn off iCloud for Versed in iOS Settings.
  • Analytics: the anonymous identifier is reset when you delete and reinstall the app. Email us if you’d like the events tied to it deleted from our providers.
  • Access or questions: write to carlton@charmtechnologies.co. Residents of California, the EU/EEA, the UK and other jurisdictions with privacy laws may exercise their rights through that address; we respond within the time those laws require.

8. Security

Data in transit to the services above is encrypted with TLS. Data at rest on your device and in iCloud is protected by iOS and iCloud encryption. No method is perfect, but keeping your library off our servers is the strongest protection we can offer.

9. Changes

We’ll post any changes here and update the effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the app.
